International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) is a dynamic, exciting, and ever evolving match which is contested globally with regular state, national and international competitions drawing competitors from around the world and is one of the fastest growing shooting sports.
So what make IPSC different? It is a dynamic and diverse discipline with no two matches the same. During the course of fire competitors may have to shoot standing, sitting, laying on the ground and even through windows and the list goes on. Solving how to best shoot the course accurately and quickly is a constant challenge that even the top ranked competitors must work hard to perfect.
All types of pistols from centrefire to rimfire, semi-auto to revolvers are used from out of the box to fully custom competition match pistols. The extension to IPSC is Practical Pistol, Shotgun and Rifle. At SSPC ACT, you can shoot independently or all three in the one match known as ‘3-Gun’. Again, this is where the diversity of IPSC is highlighted which is a big draw card for new and experienced shooters alike.
IPSC Australia oversees this discipline in each state/territory. If you are looking to compete interstate or internationally, you will need to be a member of IPSC Australia with the affiliation to where your home club residues. IPSC ACT is the territory association for the SSPC ACT.
IPSC shoot regularly, so check the SSPC ACT Calendar for dates & times. Contact the IPSC Discipline Coordinator if you would like to try, shoot on a regular basis and/or compete or if you have any questions i.e. equipment, etc.
